![]() Greg introduced me to Jamie, who is a ex- Naki lad who now works for Triathlon Australia. We signed in, got our accreditation sorted and sat through briefing. Managed to get dropped off at the right hotel, despite my lack of spanish! Met up with Greg, our national coach and we headed to the race briefing in town. I always enjoy listening to experience, and Jon has plenty of that to share! I got to know him at the snow farm earlier in the year, and have looked after his athletes while they were at races in NZ and Australia. Jon is a dutch-turned kiwi GP and coach who used to be the national coach of NZ triathlon but is now coaching the up and coming dutch triathlon team. Had a good chat to renowned Dr Jon Hellemans on the way in. Was meant to meet up with Andrea and Laurent but their plane was delayed back in France. Once in Madrid, I met up with the Triathlon organisers who took me and a few of the international athletes to our hotels. Made it to Madrid after 30 hours or so, felt good, made sure I was well hydrated.
